Intarsia 101
Saturday, 3:00-4:00 PM July 15, 29, and August 12
$50 class fee -- max of 4 students per session
Want a multi-colored top without the extra weight of stranded color work? Come learn intarsia and knit the Mooncrush Tank by Jacqueline Cieslak! Rather than carrying strands or floats across the wrong side of your work, creating slightly denser and less flexible fabric, intarsia knitting involves interlocking two strands of yarn when you change from one color to another. The resulting garment is as light and flexible as plain old stockinette, making it perfect for a colorful, warm weather garment! The Mooncrush Tank can be worked using two or three colors and offers both cropped and full-length options in 9 sizes. Jacqueline Cieslak also has a Mooncrush Pullover, which is great if you prefer a garment with sleeves. (Working the sleeves and setting them in will not be covered in the class).
The Class fee includes instruction only.
You can use any fingering weight yarn (or DK yarn that meets gauge) of your choice. Receive 10% off your yarn, needles and pattern for this class from the shop. Purchase your pattern directly from Ravelry or through the shop with the discount.
Prerequisites: Participants should be able to confidently cast on, knit, purl, keep track of stitches and rows and seam using the mattress stitch. Familiarity with pattern reading is desirable.
Skills learned include: Following an intarsia chart, introducing new colors in the intarsia method, hidden weaving in of ends, the 3 needle bind off, and the I-cord bind off.
This is an adventurous beginner/intermediate level class.
