Build your knitting skills one square at a time!

This is a great series for the newest knitters who want to learn skills in a steady pace throughout the year.

“Building Blocks” is a series of 12 fun patterns that will build your knitting skills. Starting with simple knit and purl stitches, your confidence will grow as you progress through several major knitting principles. Each block focuses on new stitches and techniques in a sequential fashion that “builds” upon the previously learned skill.

At the end of the series, the knitter is rewarded with an abundance of knitting know-how and 12 beautiful squares to assemble into a sampler afghan, baby blanket, pillows or anything limited only by your imagination!

Materials:

Pattern: Building Blocks by Michelle Hunter is $19.95 on Ravelry or pre-order from us and we will ship them to you as soon as they come in at no extra cost.

Yarn: We do not carry the yarn suggested in this pattern. For single color or 2 color afghans, the author advises 1400 yards total.  For multi color afghans (or individual squares), she suggests at least 140 yards per square

Needle size will vary depending on the yarn used.

Our machine-washable suggestions include Malabrigo Rios, Berroco Remix, Scheepjes Cahlista or Softfun (held double)

Non-machine washable suggestions are Blue Sky Fibers Sweater, Woolstok and Kelbourne Woolens Germantown

For those wanting to make washcloths, dishcloths or dishtowels, also consider Scheepjes Catona, Catona Denim, Organicon, Bamboo Soft and Whirlette
