Saara Scarf
Using just 2 skeins of either Blue Sky Fibers Metalico or Amano Mayu, you can have a gorgeous gift knit for yourself or someone special. The scarf is inspired by Estonian lace which is done on a garter stitch base (very few purls!) and utilizes “nupps” which are similar to bobbles. This is a one-session class that will teach the motif technique and also discuss finishing, etc.
Metalico will use #4 needles and slightly more stitches than the Mayu. Approximate finished size is about the same: 4.5” by about 55”; enough to wrap twice around the neck and have a bit for securing. Both the sport weight and the DK weight patterns will be provided to participants so you can make a family of scarves and be the Hero of the Holidays.
Students need to be able to work make one increases (both left and right) and be able to read charts. Instructions for the lace are only given in chart form. This is an adventurous beginner level class. Students should source their yarn from Around the Table Yarns and will receive a 10% discount on class supplies. There will be homework for the class.
