Amigurumi Club is all about having fun with crochet!
We’ll begin with some basic essential skills in order to make any Amigurumi project successful. We’ll explore techniques and designers and try a variety of styles over the course of the year.
When: Mondays in the store at 10 am and at 6 pm ET on the ATTY Recorded Zoom (password 796058) according to the following schedule
Basic Tool Kit:
Crochet hook 2mm smaller than recommended for your yarn (this will depend on your tension)
Removable stitch markers
Long sharp tapestry needle
Safety eyes (variety of sizes)
Embroidery floss (black and a variety of colors)
Dowl or wooden chopstick for stuffing
Basic Shape - We going to start with a basic ball shape that uses Magic Ring, single crochet, increasing, invisible decreasing, changing colors, using safety eyes, stuffing, embroidery on face.
You can use any size yarn you would like for this project. You’ll need just a few yards of 2 colors.
This month we'll begin making Cory the Giant Bunny by Ilaria Caliri. Please note that you do not have to make this in bulky yarn. Great options for this pattern are Scheepjes Chunky Monkey or Truly Scrumptious for a worsted/aran weight yarn or Colour Crafter or Scrumptious for a DK weight. I am making a sample in Scheepjes Stone Washed which is a sport weight cotton acrylic. The pattern will work for any weight of yarn but the overall size of your bunny will be smaller with thinner yarn.
We'll talk about hook size, making the pieces, stuffing, safety eyes, and options for the ears.
We'll continue with Cory the Giant Bunny this month. We'll learn how to attach our pieces and add some personal touches.
