Social is the result of a collaboration between Around the Table Yarns and Kat Eldred of Why Knot Fibers. Kat worked with Charli at Windy Acres Fiber Mill in Wolverine, Michigan, to create this blend of 70% Polypay-Targhee cross and 30% Huacaya alpaca. The 2-ply construction has just a touch of halo and a relaxed elasticity, perfect for cables and garments. It is spun semi-worsted and each 100g skein is a generous 250 yards, making it a perfect DK weight. Then Kat dyed it in her signature saturated tones and some new ones we suggested! We think it is the perfect mix and hope you will too.
The Polypay-Targhee cross comes from Great Lakes Lamb, a family-run group of farms that produce not just wool, but also high-quality meat. The particular breed cross allows for larger animals, superb mothering instincts, and SUPER lovely bouncy fiber.
The alpaca for this yarn came from Northern Dreams Alpaca Farm in Empire, MI where Kathy Easter spoils her charges and the fiber shows it! It has a soft hand and beautiful halo, adding a little drape to the mix.
