Online Gift certificates versus physical gift cards

Our in-store gift cards are provided through a separate merchant than our online gift certificates.  Please be aware that if you purchase a physical gift card in the store or online, your recipient can only redeem it in the store or over the phone.

Sales Tax Requirements for Ohio, an origin-based sales tax state.

Businesses in origin based sales tax municipalities are required to charge all buyers the local (8% in Cuyahoga County) sales tax rate. The zip code at the buyer’s location doesn’t matter. Ohio considers services like classes and delivery charges part of the price of a sale and are therefore taxable.

Return Policy

We hope you love your purchases from us.  Here are the rules:

Clearance items are always final sale.

All in store returns are for Store Credit only which will be issued as a store gift card or as online credit.

If you got too much yarn or change your mind, we will accept unused yarns with labels within 6 months of the date of sale at full value.  After 6 months, we can only issue credit at the current in-store price.

All other items must be returned within 90 days in their original packaging. We know that getting gauge means that sometimes you want a different sized needle or hook.  Please hang on to the original packaging on any tools you think you might exchange.

We do not require a store receipt or proof of purchase unless the purchase was made as a 'walk-in' without identifying information recorded in our store register.

For online sales, we will accept unused yarns with labels or items in their original packaging within sixty (60) days of the shipment date for return or exchange. All returns are eligible for store credit. If receiving a refund, it will be made to the original card or method used for purchase. Either credit is posted when we have confirmed that the returned item is in returnable condition and will notify you via email. Returned items may be returned in person in our store or be shipped, via USPS Priority Mail, with a tracking number, at the customer’s sole cost and expense, to our shipping address:

Around the Table Yarns

20085 Chagrin Boulevard

Shaker Heights, OH 44122

Notice of any shipped return must be sent to Around the Table Yarns, along with the applicable tracking number, to orders@aroundthetableyarns.com.

Damaged or lost shipments

Please contact us if your item arrives damaged, or is wholly or partially lost in transit. We will send you a replacement or issue a refund as quickly as possible and will be responsible for communicating with the carrier.

Outside yarn winding, Repairs and Donations

Moth damage is a frequent cause of damage to yarn and knitted or crocheted items. As a retail yarn store we can not afford to allow items into the store which may carry live clothes moths or viable clothes moth eggs. For this reason we ask that you kindly do not enter our premises with damaged items or yarns unless they have been previously cleaned or treated to kill or remove clothes moths or are tightly sealed in a plastic bag.

Further, due to staffing constraints, we are not currently receiving any items for repair. We are referring those interested to Lorraine at Fig Leaves (216) 932-9223 or figleaves@sbcglobal.net.

We are not accepting any type of donations at this time.

Employment Opportunities

We are pleased to employ personable individuals who enjoy retail and are enthusiastic about our shop and community. Most positions are on a part-time basis. Knowledge of yarn, knitting, crochet or retail systems are not required, but are a plus.

We accept and file job applications for future need. If you are interested in working at Around the Table Yarns, please download our job application form here and bring it in person to the shop.

Fabulous Finished Object Friday Raffle

Our Fabulous Finished Object Raffle started back in February of 2019 and was one of our favorite parts of our community. Any recently finished item made from yarn was eligible, and the raffle ran every week, so you wouldn't panic if you missed our Friday at 4 pm ET deadline. There was no requirement for the yarn to be purchased through the shop, but we tried very hard to share the pattern name and designer.  If we were not selling the yarn, we will simply call it "stash".

As our community grew, the number of finished objects we received required increasing amounts of minion-hours to edit and post. We got behind, we tried to catch up, and finally we realized that maintaining the FFO raffle was going to take too much time. With regret we have ended the regular raffle, but we do still collect and take photos of our community's fabulous projects.
