Solve the mystery of cutting your knitting!

Two Sessions:

Tuesday nights 6-8 pm 8/12, 8/26, 9/23

 or

Wednesday mornings 9:30-11:30 am  8/13, 8/27, 9/24

Knitters are understandably intimidated by the idea of cutting your knitting.  This fear keeps you from exploring the rich world of Shetland, Norwegian, and other heritage knitting that embraces steeks as the most efficient way to knit stranded colorwork for garments.

Using your own choice of a stranded and steeked pattern, we will cover all topics necessary to successfully complete your garment including:

·      inserting a steek at a neck or armhole

·      steek reinforcement and cutting

·      finishing of neckbands and armholes after steeking

Students can choose a pattern from this bundle:  https://www.ravelry.com/bundles/steeking-class OR they can find their own pattern on Ravelry.  The only requirement is that the item is knit in the round and includes a steek at some point.  There are some accessory patterns in the bundle for those that don’t want to dive in with both feet and knit a garment.  You could also choose a child’s vest for a smaller scale knit.

Students are required to source their project materials at Around the Table Yarns but will receive a 10% discount for project materials.

Prerequisites:  Stranded colorwork experience.  The class will not spend much time on stranded technique since there is so much to learn about the actual steek process.  You are given multiple weeks in between sessions to allow time for completing fairly large amounts of knitting on your project before the next class.
